Couplings are used with a variety of different host products, and the surrounding working environment is quite complex. Factors such as temperature, humidity, water, steam, dust, sand, oil, acids, alkalis, corrosive media, salt water, and radiation must be considered when selecting a coupling. For high-temperature, low-temperature, oily, acidic, or alkaline environments, flexible couplings with general rubber as the elastic element should not be used. Instead, flexible couplings with metallic elastic elements should be selected, such as diaphragm couplings or serpentine spring couplings.
