Selection method of plum blossom couplings

  There are two main types of梅花联轴器 (a type of coupling): the traditional straight-claw type and the zero-backlash curved (recessed) claw type. Traditional straight-claw梅花联轴器 are not suitable for high-precision servo drive applications. The zero-backlash claw-type梅花联轴器 is an evolution of the straight-claw type, but its design is suitable for servo system applications and is often used to connect servo motors, stepper motors, and ball screws. The curved surface is designed to reduce deformation of the elastic梅花spacer and limit the effect of centripetal force on it during high-speed operation. The zero-backlash claw-type coupling consists of two metal sleeves (usually made of aluminum alloy, but stainless steel is also available) and an elastic梅花spacer. The elastic梅花spacer has multiple leaf-like branches. Similar to a slider coupling, it achieves a fit between the elastic梅花spacer and the two sleeves through compression, ensuring zero-backlash performance. Unlike slider couplings, which transmit motion through shear force,梅花联轴器 transmit motion through compression. When using a zero-backlash claw-type coupling, users must ensure that the maximum load capacity of the elastic element specified by the manufacturer is not exceeded (to maintain zero-backlash). Otherwise, the elastic梅花spacer will be flattened and deformed, losing its elasticity and pre-load, resulting in the loss of zero-backlash performance. Serious problems may occur before the user notices them.
